Hello and welcome to my new blog — Tips by Dr. T Ahmed!
Whether you’re a dentist, dental student, hygiene therapist, or dental nurse, I’m so glad you’re here. This space is something I’ve been thinking about for a long time, and I’m excited to finally bring it to life. My goal is simple: to share tips, tools, techniques, and experiences that make the everyday challenges of dentistry a little easier, a bit more understandable, and — dare I say it — actually enjoyable.
Let me be clear, this isn’t going to be a dry, textbook-style resource. This blog is for real-life dental professionals. For the tired nurse revising for exams after a long shift, the dental student feeling overwhelmed by occlusion diagrams, the newly qualified dentist trying to explain implants in a way patients understand, and for the experienced clinician wanting to stay inspired and learn new skills.
Why This Blog? Why Now?
After over two decades in dentistry, I’ve come to a place in my career where I want to give back to the profession that has given me so much. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to train and work alongside some of the world’s top cosmetic dentists. I’ve owned and run a thriving private dental practice — Longwood House — for 18 years. I’ve trained in Implantology in Paris and Brazil, taught restorative dentistry at King’s College London, and treated hundreds of patients with Invisalign and advanced orthodontic techniques.
But now, after selling my practice, I’m starting a new chapter. I still work clinically, focusing on my special interests in occlusion, Invisalign, and complex restorative cases — but I also finally have the time to share what I’ve learned.
This blog is the beginning of that journey.
What You Can Expect
I’m keeping things honest, practical, and actionable. I’ll be sharing:
- Short explainer videos and write-ups on common (but tricky!) topics — like how to talk to patients about consultations, teeth whitening, implants, or Invisalign.
- Cosmetic dentistry tips — not just the technical side, but how to develop your aesthetic eye, communicate better with labs, and manage patient expectations.
- New product reviews and recommendations — because let’s face it, there’s always something new on the market. I’ll share what I actually use and why.
- Clinical concepts made simple — from occlusion to perio, I’ll help break things down so you can understand them, retain them, and apply them in practice.
- Interview guidance and support for hygiene and dental nurse roles — I’ve interviewed and mentored many nurses and students, and I know exactly what employers are looking for.
- Study support for nurses and therapists — tips and resources to help you pass exams and feel confident at work.
- Random thoughts and passions — from the value of a good website for your practice, to charity work I’m involved in, to health tips I’ve picked up along the way. (Yes, I’ll get personal sometimes.)
Who This Blog Is For
This space is for you. For all the dental professionals out there, navigating the highs and lows of the job. Whether you’re:
- A private practice owner looking to modernise and stand out online
- A dental nurse wondering how to pass their OSCEs
- A student trying to wrap their head around articulators
- A hygienist preparing for your first interview
- Or a dentist looking to polish your cosmetic skills
I want you to know this: you are not alone. Dentistry can feel overwhelming, isolating, and fast-paced — but it can also be so incredibly rewarding, creative, and fulfilling. My hope is that this blog makes the difficult parts a bit easier and the exciting parts even better.
A Bit About Me
I’ve always loved teaching and mentoring. For years, I was a clinical teacher in restorative dentistry at King’s College London (GKT), one of the world’s most respected dental schools. My time there really cemented my love for breaking down complex clinical ideas into something more digestible and clear.
My postgraduate journey has taken me across the globe — from Harley Street to Paris and Brazil — with advanced training in Implantology, Periodontics, and Cosmetic Dentistry. I was awarded my diploma in Dental Implantology back in 1993, and I’ve continued developing my skills ever since.
Over the years, I became a Platinum Invisalign provider, certified in 6 Month Smiles, Inman Aligner, and Occlusion-focused orthodontics. I’ve worked extensively with TMJ disorders and challenging bite cases, helping patients regain comfort and function — often after years of pain and frustration.
But more than the qualifications or accolades, what matters most to me is connection — with patients, with colleagues, and now with you, through this blog.
Dentistry, Communication, and the Power of a Modern Website
One area I’m especially passionate about (and you’ll see this pop up often here) is how dentists communicate — with patients and with the world.
Far too many practices still rely on outdated websites, clinical jargon, or generic messages. But patients today are savvy. They research, they compare, and they want to feel understood. Having a modern, well-designed website that speaks their language, shows your results, and reflects you as a clinician is not just a luxury — it’s a necessity.
I’ll be sharing content on how to improve your online presence, how to explain complex treatments in a way that builds trust, and even scripts you can use during consultations.
Let’s Grow Together
This blog isn’t about me preaching from a pedestal. It’s a conversation — and I want to hear from you.
What topics do you struggle with? What questions come up again and again with patients? What do you wish someone had explained to you when you were just starting out? Let me know, and I’ll do my best to cover it.
I’ll also be creating short videos (because let’s be honest, sometimes it’s easier to watch than to read), and I’ll post regularly on Instagram and YouTube — so stay tuned for announcements.
Final Thoughts (for Now)
I created Tips by Dr. T Ahmed because I genuinely love dentistry, but even more than that, I love helping others love dentistry too.
If this blog makes your clinical day run smoother, helps you pass an exam, or simply makes you feel like someone understands what you’re going through — then I’ve done my job.
Thank you for being here. I can’t wait to share more with you soon.
Warmest wishes,
Dr. T Ahmed
